Well, I've kept my mouth closed for as long as I can. Who knew this was a day of worship? The inauguration of President Barack Obama. (If you think this is going to offend, you should probably STOP reading now). Here's the thing. I get this is a historic day having an African American elected as our President. I get it. I mean, I'm not black, so I get it as much as a Caucasian can, right? I also feel every President's inauguration is historic. But again, I get it. Having said that, when does the worshipping stop???
I mean, the man hasn't DONE anything yet except smile (...great smile), give a speech and eat lunch and attend a few dances! He ate lunch and Ted Kennedy collapsed. Did he order the secret service (all 30,000 of them) to call 911? Are we in awe of his quick thinking? And can we just tell Oprah to back off and stop hitting on the poor man. She had her chance to be a cheerleader and that was back in high school, lady. C'mon...he's married after all. As an American, I'm so proud to say that 90% of Hollywood's latest and greatest were there representing the free and the brave. (Or was that just a "24" episode???).
Brother, I'm just a little put off -- just by creating the idea of hope this man seems to have inspired -- are we that desperate? Okay, we are. But are we so blind that we don't think people need to earn their stripes? I'm willing to give Barry a chance, here. But I'm not giving him a merit badge until he's earned it. Maybe that's just the ole Brownie Troop Leader in me. Principles!
If the stock market is any indicator, things are going to get even bumpier, so buckle up, and enjoy the ride. And Mr. President, time to get to work living up to all those campaign promises you made.

...Under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (Democracy...not socialism).

You should send this one in. Letter to the editor right here!
And as for Oprah, can't she just retire all ready? Surely she's got to be exhausted from all the brown nosing she does all day long!
We'll see how things are in 3 years from now. Funny how people forget that one man can't change the world unless people who follow are willing to change, too. I am SO with you: words alone are not enough. Some great thoughts in his speech. Perhaps he will be less critical of past presidents after he's had a chance to try to move the mountain himself. We'll pray for him, and for the rest of us, too!
hahahahaha! get me off the obama train! (and try living in north carolina during all of this where there is more "racial diversity"...)
and i've always liked tom hanks because to me he didn't fall in line with those obnoxious 90% you're talking about, but did you hear what he recently said about mormons and prop 8? sad. and sad that it actually surprised me. hello, shelley. it's HOLLYWOOD!!!
and ps - couldn't we have just taken all that money spent on the inauguration hoopla and put THAT into the stimulus package? instead of taxing our kids for it? i mean, really michelle, you're dress wasn't THAT great...
the end.
Okay, you don't know me, but I had to leave a comment (I got here by being nosy - it's Saturday morning, everybody else in the house is asleep, so I have to be quiet - what else is there to do but go "nosying" around in other people's blogs).
Anyway, this was great, GREAT I say. Maybe I can put this post as my desktop background. What a long 4 years this is going to be.
Can I blog-hop here again sometime?
Ooh, I wish I'd said that. Ditto to all of it. Much too much adulation and nothing to pin it on. We are waiting and watching and praying--- for him and the rest of us. Hope we can hang on to the good we have!
