Okay, maybe that's a stretch. But some of the best hilarity I can remember often comes out of a conversation with my sister when we both quote a movie line at the same time. I love that we are thinking the same thing at the same time! Clearly, it comes from a movie we've seen no less than 10,000 times -- there are a few in my repetoire. I'm a total creature of habit. I'll sit through a movie on the tube complete with commercials that lasts 3 hours even if I've seen it a 100 times. Castaway. When Harry Met Sally. The Sound of Music. Sleepless in Seattle. Not Without My Daughter. Dan in Real Life. Sabrina. Too many to remember, let alone list. I love the part in "You've Got Mail" where they are communicating online and he quotes The Godfather: "Take him to the mattresses." or "Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday." Whatever, I just love a good line.
So...here's where you, the reader, (anonymous or not) comes in. It's time to come out of the closet and post ME a comment as to what your favorite movie quote/line is. Doesn't have to be funny, just something you always remember. It's time to "Show me the money!"
C'mon...I'm always looking for new material. "Let's start at the very beginning..." (Do you know this one? You can also sing it!)

These are just random ones (there are, obviously, several great lines from "Sleepless in Seattle", "You've Got Mail", "Runaway Bride" and others of that genre):
* "Jack, you're doing it wrong!" from "Mr. Mom" (oldie, but goodie) :)
* "I triple dog dare you!" from "A Christmas Story"
* "Brain cloud." and "It's always gonna be something with you..." from "Joe Versus the Volcano" (quirky humor at its finest) :)
* "Let me 'splain...No, let me sum up..." from "A Princess Bride"
Hope you had a good Valentine's Day. :)
Alright, this post made my decision for me. I've been trying to decide whether to "officially" follow your blog, since I don't actually know you. But I know Liz and I've corresponded by e-mail with Grapefruit now. I love reading your blog and I love reading your comments on THEIR blogs even more. So, I guess I'll just jump on the cool sisters bandwagon. Is there room for me? :)
I watched "The Princess Bride" last night after I posted this and I was laughing all the way through...so many GREAT quotes in there! I'm with Wendi on "Let me splain, no, too long...let me sum up!"
Hilarious!
Dear Wendi -- follow away! Company welcome!
I am also a Liz-follower, Grapefruit and Wrinkles lurker, but NO MORE! I have to put in my favorite line from a movie that continually made me squirm: "Dan in Real Life." Maybe it was the only line that I truly enjoyed (i don't like to squirm). Here it is:
"This corn is like an angel."
I laughed my HEAD off when he said that. Don't think i'll ever forget it. And most people don't even remember it in the movie! I guess I am a weird-o. Thank goodness!
Okay, asking for my favorite movie quotes is just like asking me to heed the call of the siren. I can't not...
First of all, my daughter loves, loves, loves, (do you hear what I'm saying - loves!!) The Princess Bride. (She's 23 by way of info)
I, on the other hand, was excited to see so many Dan in Real Life fans. I'm not really sure why my daily contact friends cannot appreciate this movie like it should be appreciated. Thank heavens for the wonderful world of blogging. I loved this movie.
Okay, my favorite line (but it's hard to choose just one):
Question: "What is your talent, Dan?"
Answer: "Murderer of Love"
Sweet, Home, Alabama: "Honey, just because I talk slow doesn't mean I'm stupid."
Other favorites: Just about everything from O, Brother, Where Art Thou. Maybe it's because I'm from the South, but that movie was great (that's one you either love or you can't stand - there's not a whole lot of middle ground there).
(I have to tell you, I actually put a "Favorite Movie Lines" gadget on my blog when I first set it up because I LOVE movie quotes. However, I put those few up and haven't added to it since then. This has inspired me to get back to it because a movie freak such has myself has lots of favorite lines - thanks)
Gloria -- that's awesome. "Murderer of Love" is maybe my favorite line of all time. HYSTERICALLY FUNNY! I know, right on, lots of "Dan" fans. Who knew? I thought it was just me and Grapefruit!
"You can't handle the truth!" (That one is one of Matt's...Plus I knew you'd drool just at the mention of a Tommy movie.)
"Is one of us supposed to be a dog? Who is the dog Harry? WHO IS THE DOG?"
"He's never gonna leave her. I don't think he's ever gonna leave her...'No one thinks he's ever gonna leave her!'"
"I choose us." (Family Man)
"You never know what the tide will bring in." (Castaway.)
"No, that's where you're wrong. I really am that self centered." (Something like that from About A Boy.)
Okay, too many to list. But I love quoting w/you too.
Except I'm a little more upbeat than you are because I don't sit around watching "Legends of the Fall" and "Not without my Daughter" time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time again.
xoxo
And BTW...glad to see so many Dan In Real Life fans out there. It's my FAVORITE movie. Watched it a million times. Although Fairy Godmother her always tells me, "I don't get it, I mean, it's kinda slow."
She's a wannabe DIRL fan.
I love those "When Harry Met Sally" quotes, Grapefruit. :)
"Shoot yer eye out!" (Not my favorite movie, but one of the lines we quote often and laugh)
"Chancho, sometimes, when you are a man, you wear stretchy pants, in your room. Is for fun." (I've never seen this movie. My children delight in repeating this over in their best Spanglish accents.)
"Anybody want a peanut?" (After someone declares, "I MEAN IT" emphatically)
"INCONCEIVABLE!"
