Survivor

Girls Camp was everything you would think camp would be: Not much sleep, tons of starch for breakfast, lunch & dinner, swarms of mosquitoes, loud girls, campfire songs and roasted marshmallows, lots of laughter.

On this day -- we were reminded of God's great gifts...the gift of nature and all of it's splendor. Not only that, but all of the sudden the air was filled with hundreds, no thousands, of baby lady bugs. Our guide said they just hatched and were off to find their way in the world. It was like fairies dancing around in the air, occassionally landing on our arms or legs. It was beautiful. Just like our girls. Close to leaving home and setting foot out in the real world. But they'll be ready. And camp will have helped prepare them. Hopefully I had a hand in that, watching these kids grow...a lot...this week. Some more than others. But it was there and the triumphant spirit grew stronger this week. Not only theirs, but mine as well. Love abounds in nature.

Glad you're back and that you survived your week away. I barely did. Looks like it was beautiful!

Welcome back! What great photos, and what a cool experience with the lady bugs. I'm sure that was one of the many highlights of camp. It sounds like it was a welcome change from the pace of your life. And you have had a hand and will continue to bless the lives of those around you. You bless mine.

You know what they say about lady bugs (I was totally disappointed your sister didn't know this)...
that they are good luck! So, you and the girls should have abundant luck from now on ; )

Great pictures. And what a special experience you got to share with your daughter.

Welcome back to hot showers and real bathrooms.

Brought back memories of smoky campfires, sticky marshmallows, cold-- no, FRIGID lake water, hikes at midnight, great counselors we girls adored. (Did they ever suspect it?) Loved the part about ladyblugs and the girls-- so true. You look like you were having fun with them. Mal is so lucky to have you there.
Welcome home-- again! And hope the move goes well.
